Case study · Technical SEO improvements

Reworking the technical foundations of a press relations website.

Oppenheimer Media already had a WordPress website presenting its services, projects and shop. We corrected its heading structure, sitemap and navigation links for a more consistent technical foundation while preserving its existing visual identity.

The starting point

The project context.

Founded by Rodolphe Oppenheimer, Oppenheimer Media supports press relations and communication projects, particularly in publishing. Its website already presented the agency, services and examples of work. The audit identified site-wide issues: a form heading repeated as the main heading on every page, redirected URLs in the sitemap and buttons without destinations. The project addressed these targeted technical issues.

The existing website

An agency, its services and its work.

The homepage presents press and media relations, then guides visitors towards services and contact. The screenshot shows the public website checked on 21 September 2026 and illustrates the appearance preserved during the work.

The challenges

What needed to be addressed.

  1. 01

    Restoring each page’s actual heading

The footer form component added an H1 everywhere. Some pages had several main headings, while the homepage used the form heading as its only H1. The hierarchy needed to be restored using existing text.

  2. 02

    Providing a consistent sitemap

The sitemap mixed useful pages, redirected URLs, the customer area and technical archives. Cleanup needed to retain articles and business pages while removing destinations that did not belong in the file.

  3. 03

    Preserving the existing website

Tag changes could alter the Divi theme’s typography. The work needed to preserve text and appearance, with desktop and mobile checks and a rollback option.

What we did

The work, step by step.

  • Audited sitemap URLs: HTTP responses, redirects, headings, indexing tags and links without destinations.

  • Backed up files and the database before intervention, verifying that backup archives could be retrieved.

  • Corrected the global form heading and reorganised existing headings on the homepage, Services, Projects, About, Contact and other affected pages.

  • Removed redirected URLs, the customer area and selected technical archives from the sitemap; added a noindex directive to affected product archives and the monthly archive.

  • Corrected the “Discover our services” button to the Services page and the Facebook link to the official page already referenced on the website.

  • Installed a standalone, reversible WordPress fix, cleared the cache, compared before and after, and checked desktop and mobile visuals.

This case study covers the technical work completed on 4 September 2026. The visual identity already existed. Content rewriting and service development were outside this lot.

The improvement method

Correcting the structure with a straightforward rollback.

The work was grouped in a separate technical module, with before-and-after records to verify its actual effects on pages.

  • WordPress and Divi

The heading structure was corrected while retaining text and preserving theme styles, including mobile font sizes.

  • Sitemap and archives

The actual sitemap, sitemap-site.xml, was cleaned URL by URL to retain useful content. Affected technical archives received a noindex, follow directive.

  • Reversible fix

The dedicated module can be removed in a controlled way without rewriting database content. Backups, records and checks document the work.

For visitors

What you find when you arrive.

  1. 01

An activity stated from the homepage

The heading “Press & media relations agency” is the page’s main heading. The “Discover our services” button leads to the service introduction.

  2. 02

    Accessible projects

The menu provides access to agency projects, its introduction and contact. These sections belong to the existing website preserved during the work.

  3. 03

    A separate business journey

The site has a shop and customer area. Sitemap improvements distinguish these journeys from pages intended to introduce the agency through search engines.

Who visits, and why

  • Authors and project organisers

Discover press relations services, view completed work and reach the contact form to introduce a project.

  • Agency clients

Find access to their customer area from the website menu alongside public introductory pages.

Verified results

Technical foundations put back in order.

The results below come from final checks on 4 September 2026. They measure technical compliance of pages without attributing increased traffic, contacts or sales to this work.

  1. 01

    A cleaned sitemap

At the final check on 4 September 2026, all 25 retained URLs returned HTTP 200 directly. Articles remained included and identified redirected URLs had been removed.

  2. 02

    Main headings restored

24 of the 25 sitemap pages had a single H1 after the work. The Legal Notice page remained without an H1 pending an editorial decision: no new heading had been invented.

  3. 03

    Verified improvements

Before-and-after checks confirmed that heading text was retained and there was no major visual regression on examined pages. The fix can be removed independently of WordPress content.
